The BIGGA Scottish Golf Championship takes place at Renfrew Golf Club.

Renfrew Golf Course is a tree-lined parkland course constructed in 1970 and officially opened on 29th September 1973 and was the design of Architect Commander John D. Harris in the estate of the late Lord Blythswood.  Since 1973, the 6808 yard course with a SSS of 73 from the championship tees has hosted many major tournaments: Scottish Amateur Championship in 1984 and 1994, The European Boys Team Championship in 1988, The Sunderland of Scotland Masters and running from 2000 through to 2004 the Scottish Regional Qualifier for The Open Championship.

The Challenge Cup is awarded to the player with the best gross score and is the highest prize on offer and recognises the best golfing greenkeeper in the region.  However it should be noted that ALL members can participate at the championship with a number of individual and team competitions to play for using both strokeplay and stableford formats with a total prize fund of £1,000.  

Individual Strokeplay
 
  • Challenge Cup – Scottish Champion (best gross)
  • Ransomes Trophy – 1st class (best net)
  • Pattison Trophy – 2nd class (best net)
  • STRI Trophy – 3rd class (best net)

In addition the winners of the individual strokeplay competitions will also receive their entry fee to the BIGGA National Tournament to be held at Liphook Golf Club in Hampshire.

Individual Stableford
 
  • Friendship Trophy – best Head Greenkeeper
  • M & M Trophy – best Assistant/Apprentice
  • SIGGA Trophy – best Veteran (aged over 55)
  • The Patrons Shield – best Patron

Team Event

The St Mungo Trophy will be awarded to the Section with the 4 best combined stableford scores.  Our thanks to GOLF KINGS LTD for sponsoring this trophy.
